Capabilities: Community Consultation

Environment North has extensive experience in community consultation and engagement. We are adept at disseminating accurate information in an effective and comprehensible way. Environment North has assisted Queensland Government through the process of community engagement regarding large scale infrastructure developments that impact on the environment and adjacent communities.

Common tasks have included:

  • collating relevant information,
  • preparing appropriate material for dissemination to the public,
  • attending, hosting and analysing outcomes of public meetings and community workshops,
  • resourcing community reference groups and steering committees,
  • providing feedback to clients, and
  • assisting with addressing respondent’s issues and incorporating alterations to projects where necessary.

In the past we have worked with IT professionals to design interactive multi-media solutions for consultation aids. Working via our associated company Intelligent Technology Network, Environment North prepared the award winning multi-media solutions for the Kuranda Range Road Upgrade and more recently for the ConnectWest transport study in Brisbane.

Most recently we have helped resource the Community Reference Group set up for the Aquis Resort at The Great Barrier Reef (Yorkeys Knob, Cairns). This group included representatives from the environment, community, and business sectors and assisted the Aquis team with identification of opportunities and constraints for design during the preparation of the Environmental Impact Statement. Environment North provided project updates, answered queries, and helped integrate input into the proposal.
